Herb Wilks was born and raised in Crestview
Florida. Surrounded by talented friends, he began playing the bass and
rhythm guitar at the early age of 13. Influenced by Blues, Jazz and Funk
music, he developed his own style of playing and writing music. Herb Wilks
has played live performances for many years, throughout the south. In the
year of 1999 he started his own independent record label (Herbyon
Records). His new self-produced R&B album titled "I`ll
Treat You Right" is his first release under Herbyon Records.
Herb is a one man talent powerhouse. He has
produced an album that captures his deep love for music as well as his
inclination toward highly charged, emotion laden lyrics. This is R&B
at its finest, proclaiming loudly that life is love and it's inverse, that
love is life. In this album, Wilks weds the R&B of yesteryear with the
R&B of tomorrow. His smooth intonation and phrasing, characteristic of
such greats as Smokey Robinson and Marvin Gaye captures the excitement of
an all star show at the Apollo while his use of modern day electronics
coupled with his precise timing and incisive song writing ability opens
the door to great music yet to be written. Thank God for his creative
ability. Yes, with God's help, a little luck and the same intense
enthusiasm he has shown there will be a lot more coming from this man with
the honey voice, the critical eye and sensuous delivery.
