Dead Poets Society, from Portland, Oregon, will take you on an intelligent electronic and gothic journey through the inner space of the human soul and the technological ago, with their debut album, ‘The Electric Haze’.

The debut album features few lyrics, but well-placed vocal samples, to create an emotional experience. Songs that excite and songs that touch the heart, join the Dead Poets Society. Open your heart and share the agonizing story of a young rape victim struggling to cope in "I Don’t (Andrea’s fault mix)"

The dead poets are currently planning a tour to support The Electric Haze and afforded have been radio support from all over the Internet, as well as popular electronic programs like Oregon’s ‘Area 54’ on KMCU 104.5. The singles "The Electric Haze", "The Vast Unknown", "Fire Bolt", and "So Much Beauty" have been topping the MP3.com charts since early 2001. Fire Bolt was recently licensed by regionally prominent espresso chain for use in their advertising.

Their sound has been described as a diverse combination of hard dance (juno reactor) and goth (siouxsie and the banshees), and has been described as a fresh sound that is re-defining what electronica can be.

The diversity of the band comes as no surprise to those who know the band’s three extremely different members. The driving force behind the music is Wa, programmer, percussionist, and songwriter. His extensive training in percussion makes sure that the dead poets music always retains a driving beat and a great sense of proportion and balance. Tim Gibson’s contributions of ‘all things stringed’ adds a sense of ethereal beauty and often down to earth chord-and-melody combinations which soothe the listeners aural sensibilities. The third head on this musical hydra is Raven Nightshado whose keyboards and vocals lend a sense of melancholic wonder.

The dead poets society’s debut album The Electric Haze is available now from quality independent Northwest record stores and online services.

"The new album combines surprisingly diverse influences including East Asian, Middle Eastern, techno-pop with a strong dance beat and electronic sampling from pop culture influences including movies, television, literature, and even video games." - The Dalles Chronicle

"I started to listen to the music of D.P.S. and I found something strange, a kind of sound I've never heard ... The title track, 'the electric haze' surprised me very much, the whole composition, including the guitars, turns into a very powerful sound that produces an extraordinary feeling." - Virtualizer, VTN Inc. Records

"On their new CD "The Electric Haze", Dead Poets Society manages sounding like your favorite music from the recent past while having their feet planted firmly in the future of electronic music. Mixing manual instrument manipulation with computer generated loops, each title morphs and mutates into a cross hybridization of familiar and totally new sounds. Complex beats and crisp synthetics juxtaposed with gothic rock and exotic sounds augment songs that begin with lush ambient atmospheres. Tracks sounding like sweeping cinematic scores turn into music hard enough to bruise the dance floor. A gene splicing of New Order, BIGOD20 and Future Sounds of London might sound something like Dead Poets Society. While the title track "The Electric Haze" and "The Portal" are outstanding examples of their sound, the Martin Dennyesque "I Dream of Japan" is pure exotica and shows this bands range and hints at surprises yet to come." - M.W.
