Fascia
formed in November 1997 and have been playing their unique brand of heavy
melodic rock since. The current line up is:
Geoffrey Dent - Vocals and guitar
James Chatwin - Bass
Emma Dent - Drums
The Fascia live experience is currently touring the South-East of
England and London to promote their latest album released locally on their
own independent label, Fluid Records. Their first album 'Distant
Echo' was released at the end of the Summer of 1998, with one-hundred
copies reserved by fans prior to the release date. This 13-track CD was
also in high demand in local branches of HMV, Our Price and F. L. Moore
records and earned the band gigs at venues such as the prestigious London
Highbury Garage, Bedford Esquires and Camden Barfly. These gigs impressed
the venue promoters so much that their details were passed on to numerous
large record companies who are currently showing an interest in Fascia.
New CD 'Why So Sad' is set to define the Fascia sound and place them on
the map for the year 2000.
After many years of self-taught guitar experimentation, Geoff met James
at a bootleg CD stand at his local market and they began jamming together.
After around a year of experimentation with rock riffs, they began to
start playing with Geoff's sister Emma on drums. Simple but catchy songs
soon began to develop, with Geoff writing lyrics and singing purely to
experiment with vocal melodies. Eventually, it was decided that he would
remain on lead vocals as well as playing guitar - and Fascia was born. The
distorted pop of early songs such as Melt and Follow Me soon
evolved as his heavier rock and industrial influences darkened the tone of
the band's sound, while the catchy pop element of each chorus still giving
the songs an accessible commercial edge.
James adds an easily distinguishable funky bass section to the heavy
guitar and drumming provided by Geoff and Emma, something which makes
their sound's complexity stand out even with only one guitar.
When looking for a band to display her drumming talents in, Emma needed
look no further than her own doorstep. Joining Fascia with Geoff and James
was ideal, giving the band a feminine side seen very rarely in the local
area. Despite breaking many sets of hi-hats, Emma's drum sound provides a
unique backing for Fascia's material and she continues to be a
distinguished stickster - and one of the youngest of her calibre.
